Mahindra & Mahindra launched the BS6-compliant Scorpio in India last year. The Indian carmaker is currently readying the new generation of the Bolero, which is expected to go on sale in India later this year or early 2022. The SUV is available in four variants - S5, S7, S9 and S11. The Scorpio is available as a diesel-only car, which comes powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The motor is tuned to make and 320 Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Prices of the 7-seater SUV starts from Rs. 12.59 lakh, going up to Rs. 17.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Here are its top 5 rivals.

Hyundai Creta:

The Hyundai Creta is one of the most favourite compact SUVs among Indian car buyers and offers a range of smart creature comforts like connected car technology. The SUV comes in a pair of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options along with a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, iVT, DCT and AT gearboxes. The Creta SUV is priced at Rs. 9.99 lakh to Rs. 17.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Kia Seltos:

Kia introduced the refreshed Seltos SUV in India earlier this year alongside the updated Sonet. The compact SUV now sports the company's new brand logo. It continues to come with three engine options - 1.5-litre Smartstream naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.4-litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol, and a 1.5-litre CRDi VGT diesel engine. Prices of the SUV start from Rs. 9.95 lakh, going up to Rs. 17.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Renault Duster:

The Renault Duster has been in our market since 2012. The carmaker pioneered the compact SUV space with the Duster SUV. It is one of the more capable SUVs available in the segment. The Duster is available in two petrol engine options - a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit and a new 1.3-litre turbo motor. The SUV is priced in between Rs. 9.86 lakh to Rs. 14.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
MG Hector:

The updated 2021 MG Hector SUV was launched in the country earlier this year. The 5-seater SUV comes with a choice of petrol and diesel options to choose from. While the petrol motor is a 1.5-litre petrol unit, the diesel unit is a fiat-sourced 2.0-litre oil burner. Prices for the MG Hector start at Rs. 13.17 lakh and go up to Rs. 18.43 lakh.
Tata Harrier:

The Tata Harrier is one of the good-looking SUVs currently available on sale in India. The 5-seater SUV comes as a diesel-only model. It is powered by a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, multijet diesel engine that is tuned to make 138 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. Prices of the SUV start from Rs. 14.29 lakh, going up to Rs. 21.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
