There are so many places near Kolkata that we don't even know much about. There are a few exciting places near Kolkata which are perfect for visiting and even for road trips.

Falta, also known as the river town:
The route to reach this place from Kolkata is from Bankura, Beliator, Sonamukhi, Khandaghosh, Nischintapur and Diamond Harbour. The approximate distance is 52 km. One of the good things about this place is that you can visit it any time of the year. You would get to see the confluence of rivers Damodar and Hooghly. There are a lot of resorts where you can enjoy your weekend. You can even watch the beautiful Hooghly River which flows by this place. You will even come across various farmhouses, temples and even ferries.
Raichak:
One of the closest places from Kolkata for a road trip is Raichak. The route is from Bankura, Beliator, Sonamukhi, Khandaghosh and Nischintapur road. This place is situated in Diamond Harbour. There are several historic architectures which you will get to see here and you will have a good time here. The total time needed to reach this place from Kolkata is around 2 hours and 20 minutes. Though you can visit this place anytime, September to April is the best time to check this place out. You will even get to see a lighthouse and even a fort. You can even have a picnic here with your family. The weather is good and the river gives you a relaxing sensation.

Chinsurah, also known as the city with a colonial past:
The city is at a distance of 53 km from Kolkata. It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Kolkata by road. It is a city in the Hooghly District which is known to be part of the Dutch settlement in India once. You can take your bike and go for a ride here. This place is beautiful just by the banks of the river Hooghly. You have to reach this place via Delhi road. Once you are here, you can check the old military barracks, the Hooghly Imambara which is equally famous. You can even check out the Aqua Marina Water Park and Sobuj Deep. The best time to visit this place is between December and February.

Deulti:
Deulti is 67 km away from Kolkata and it takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Kolkata. This place is very famous because of the iconic author, the late Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. This is a very popular picnic spot among the people of Kolkata. Deulti is a calm and silent village nestled on the Rupnarayan River. While you are here, you can keep yourself busy at any of the resorts in Kolaghat. You can even have a lovely lunch with your family here. There are some beautiful parks and resorts which make this place always crowded. The route which will help you reach this place is via Makardah road and NH 16. The road is smooth hence you will have a lovely time on the road.
