MotoGP Rider's Training Regimen

Sportspeople have one of the fittest physiques in the world. Many people assume that motorsports racers do not require intensive training or fitness regimes like athletes, basketball, or soccer players. However, that is a misconception. Motorsports can be physically and mentally demanding.
The challenging racing conditions can be extremely taxing and call for intense fitness levels. The soul-stirring speeds and the unforgiving terrains of the MotoGP are the toughest. Besides, the training regimen for MotoGP riders are distributed across four periods in a year. Let's look at how the MotoGP riders physically prepare themselves for the race!

Pre-Season Fitness Regime
The pre-season time is one of the most crucial for the MotoGP riders. It is when there are only a few months left for the season to begin—the regimen for pre-season kicks in during December.
The riders typically follow a combination of cardio exercises to enhance overall strength and stamina. Most of the riders work out for 6 hours a day for six days a week. The riders follow weight training, work out with machines, and perform isokinetic exercises.
Training Regime During Racing Period
During the racing period, the regimen looks slightly different. The physical training for each rider depends on their specific requirements. For instance, a rider might want to enhance a particular aspect of his physical abilities to handle a motorcycle better.
However, the focus still lingers around strength during the racing period. Most of the physical exercises the racers perform aim to enhance endurance, strength, and muscle volume. But, during the racing period, the regime might focus more on riding skills than other physical strengths.

Fitness Regime During the Summer Break
When the summer break approaches, the training regime might undergo slight changes to prep up the riders. The summer break is the time when the riders have crossed half of the racers, and there's a month-long break.
The regime during the summer break looks similar to the pre-season training routine. However, some riders prefer to tailor and modify their training regimen based on specific focus areas. The primary aim of the summer break is to allow respite to the drivers.

How Riders Stay Fit for End of Season
The end of the season witnesses one last race, and the season closes for the year. Usually, the riders take a month to unwind and relax, but not in the typical meaning. During this time, the riders indulge in different sports such as badminton, basketball, football, etc. But, the cardio-respiratory training is ongoing to improve the riders' stamina. And then, once again, the pre-season approaches.

The racing conditions are extremely pressurizing and tolling. The riders have to maintain an intensive training regimen to endure the brutal conditions.
