It's finally here! Hyundai today revealed the Grand i10 based sub-4 metre sedan and has christened it the Xcent. This has been one of the most anticipated launches of the year and all eyes were on Hyundai, if they have been successful in making a sedan that has a standing of its own.
The Xcent shares its name with the erstwhile Accent sedan but the company says that it comes with more of an X factor to it. The Fluidic design philosophy is clearly visible on this one as well and even though it is based on the hatchback, the Xcent will get a slightly longer wheelbase.
The Xcent sedan gets interiors and a feature list very similar to the hatchback and hence the feature list includes rear AC vents, smart key, rear parking camera with sensors, 2-Din music system with a one GB internal memory, auto folding chrome mirrors and one touch boot opening. Safety too is taken care of by airbags and ABS.
The 1.2-litre Kappa unit and the 1.4-litre CRDi diesel unit will make its way into the car and we do expect Hyundai to surprise us with the autobox in the diesel version of the car. Competition is high in this segment and the Hyundai Xcent will compete with the likes of the Honda Amaze and the Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
