There has been a lot of talk within the motoring fraternity about the new face of the Volkswagen Passat. There have been spy shots from Beijing and from the test mule, however, no official word. Now, Volkswagen has quietly released a new teaser image of the 2015 Passat.
The German car manufacturer is set to introduce this car next month and from the looks of it, the redesigned model appears to have a sportier front fascia with LED-infused headlights. There is a prominent character line from the A-pillar which extends right upto the rear of the car. The new Passat also flexes some muscles by showing off the new toned and muscular wheel arches.
It appears that this Euro-spec model is smaller when compared to the out-going one and because of the aluminium and high-strength steel construction, will shed some weight which probably will be upto 85 kgs.
The rest of the details elude us but Volkswagen have confirmed that the Passat will be offered with a twin-turbo 2.0-litre TDI engine that develops 240bhp and 500 Nm torques. Mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission and an all-wheel drive system, Volkswagen promises that the Passat will not be a fuel guzzler and there will be no compromises on performance.
VW has also planned to offer the Passat with a plug-in hybrid powertrain but more information will be out soon.
