Pros

  • Looks better than before. Facelift ups the premium quotient
  • Seats are well bolstered
  • More power available on the diesel

  • There's a hint of body roll
  • Low on power at lower rpms
  • Understeers when you take a corner

Verdict

Mahindra is offering some new colours on the XUV500 - Crimson Red and Mystic copper, both of which we did not get to see; but the Crimson Red looked promising on the presentation board. Mahindra will hope the refresh brings its customer base back into M&M showrooms and more importantly, back to driving the once popular XUV500.

Driving the Alturas G4, you definitely get the feel of solidity that every Mahindra SUV boasts of. It goes up against established rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Isuzu MUX. The Alturas G4 is impressive as an overall package! It has solid road presence, has a tonne of features, well-appointed cabin and has a decent engine too.
