2018 Honda Super Cub Launched In Thailand

- 2018 Honda Super Cub gets a 109 cc engine
- Honda Super Cub gets reworked styling inspired by the 1958 model
- The Honda Super Cub has crossed 100 million production units
Honda has launched the 2018 model of the Super Cub, called the Honda Super Cub in Thailand. Dubbed the most successful bike ever to be built, the new 2018 Super Cub gets reworked styling inspired by the original 1958 model. The new Super Cub features a 109 cc, air-cooled engine that makes 7.89 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 8.5 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. Power is transferred to the rear wheel through a four-speed centrifugal clutch gearbox and chain final drive. Braking is taken care of by drums, front and rear.

Honda Cub was never sold in India
Last year, Honda announced a production milestone for the Super Cub, with production crossing 100 million units in October 2017. But the Super Cub seems to have become more popular in recent years. From the time the model was introduced in 1958, it took until 2005 for Honda to build 50 million of these bikes, but in the last 12 years alone, that figure has doubled to 100 million. In fact, it was the ad for the Super Cub that originally launched the iconic slogan, 'You meet the nicest people on a Honda.'
The Honda Cub, or the Super Cub has never been launched in India, but most of the Hero Honda motorcycles in the 1980s, including the bestselling Hero Honda CD 100 had a 100 cc engine which had its origins in the Honda Cub. Hero Honda even introduced a step-through model without a clutch, called the Hero Honda Street, which was also based on the Honda Cub, but that model failed to make any kind of sales impact in India. As things stand today, it's unlikely that Honda has any plans to launch the updated Super Cub in India.
