CNG Prices Hiked In Delhi, Mumbai

- CNG price hiked by Rs. 2.5 per kg in Delhi
- CNG costlier by Rs. 5 per kg in Mumbai
- CNG prices hiked by over Rs. 10 per kg since April 1.
Petrol and diesel prices have offered some respite in the past week with the prices having stayed stable for the past eight days now. The same though cannot be said for CNG which witnessed a hike in price in both Delhi and Mumbai in the past two days. Indraprastha Gas, the supplier for CNG in Delhi and neighbouring regions hiked prices of CNG by up to Rs. 2.5 per kg on April 14 bringing the price for the fuel in the national capital to Rs. 71.61 per kg.
This brings the total hike in prices to almost Rs 10.8 per kg in the national capital since April 1 when prices stood at Rs. 60.81 per kg following a 80 paise hike. The price in Noida and Ghaziabad meanwhile stood at Rs. 74.17 per kg on Thursday morning while the price in Gurugram was set at Rs 79.94 per kg. The complete list of CNG prices from Indraprastha Gas is below:
Region | Price |
---|---|
NCT of Delhi | Rs. 71.61 per Kg |
Noida, Greater Noida & Ghaziabad | Rs. 74.17- per Kg |
Muzaffarnagar, Meerut & Shamli | Rs. 78.84 per Kg |
Gurugram | Rs. 79.94 per Kg |
Rewari | Rs. 82.07 per Kg |
Karnal & Kaithal | Rs. 80.27 per Kg |

Ajmer, Pali & Rajsamand | Rs. 81.88 per kg |

CNG prices have increased by over Rs 10 per kg since April 1 in Mumbai and Delhi.
Shifting focus to Mumbai, CNG supplier Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) hiked prices for CNG for the second time this month on April 13 by Rs. 5 per kg. The price for CNG on Wednesday morning stood at Rs. 72 per kg as against the previous price of Rs. 67 per kg set on April 6. CNG prices grew a notable Rs. 12 per kg in Mumbai and neighbouring regions since April 1 when MGL reduced CNG prices to Rs. 60 per kg on the back of a reduction in state government tax on the fuel.
The hike in CNG prices is likely to offset some of the expenses incurred by the entities due to the higher cost of natural gas set by the Government of India on April 1. As per reports, the central government doubled the price of natural gas - used in the manufacturing of CNG - for the six-month period starting April 1.
