German chemical giant BASF and Chinese battery manufacturer SVolt have formed a partnership to develop battery materials, the companies said on Monday in a joint statement.

Tesla has been developing these batteries in-house and has started to deploy them in cars manufactured from its Berlin facility

BMW is also laying down a marker for sustainability - it has announced a reverse osmosis system to cut down its water consumption by 6 million liters.
