Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal Tweets About Selling 1000+ Used Cars, Gets Trolled

- Ola CEO shared a tweet about selling 1000+ used cars via Ola Cars
- The Tweet met with criticism about bad experience & delivery delays
- Ola Electric still hasn't commenced deliveries of its electric scooter
Ola's founder and CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal recently announced that the company has sold more than 1,000 cars through its used car platform Ola Cars. Aggarwal shared this information via a Twitter post, saying that 1000+ used cars were sold over the previous weekend, leading up to Dhanteras on November 2, 2021. In fact, in his post, he even used the reference of flying cars, talking about how used cars have been flying off the shelves. While a few Twitterati congratulated the Ola CEO for the achievement, several others expressed some very critical opinions about a bad buying experience, the cars being too pricey, and even about delays in delivery of the Ola S1 electric scooter.

While several Twitterati commented about issues with the website itself, others spoke about how the pricing of the used cars on Ola cars is more expensive compared to the other platforms like OLX. There were also a few buyers who have used the Ola Cars platform but were not happy with the buying experience. One user commented saying "I'm very sorry to say this that I just regret for choosing @OlaCarsOfficial to buy a pre-owned car. Worst experience ever in my life. Coming up with silly false price excuse just a day before the delivery. Trust I had in Ola cars was broken."

Earlier in September 2021, Ola announced that it has sold scooters worth Rs. 1,100 crore
Twitter users also took this opportunity to comment on how Ola Electric is delaying the deliveries of its electric scooter, and also how customers are not able to get a test ride of the vehicle. Earlier in September 2021, Ola announced that it has sold scooters worth Rs. 1,100 crore, and while deliveries were expected to begin in October this year, the company has been postponing the delivery date sighting various challenges. This has agitated customers who still haven't got a chance to test ride the electric scooter.

Several Twitterati commented about issues with the website, while others spoke about how the pricing of the used cars are expensive

Now, traditionally India has been a market where the customer wants to get a touch and feel of the product, he/she is buying. And this becomes even more important when it comes to vehicles. While some customers have adjusted to the idea of buying two-wheelers or four-wheelers online, a massive chunk of buyers still prefer to visit showrooms, check out the design, build quality and features, and then take a test drive of the vehicle, before deciding to buy it. That hasn't been the case with Ola's S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters. The entire buying process is online, and customers are yet to get a test ride of the vehicle. And with deliveries being delayed further, this has ended up creating a sense of distrust among consumers.

Consumers have also have commented saying that they have either cancelled their booking or are planning to do it because Ola is delaying the deliveries
Several users have commented saying that they have either cancelled their booking or are planning to do it because Ola is delaying the deliveries. Some have even suggested the company should focus on electric vehicles and delivery of the e-scooter first instead of venturing into new business. Earlier, in October, even Nikunj Sanghi, auto industry expert and former President of FADA (Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations) posted a tweet saying "Ola Electric has been extremely non-transparent about the deliveries. Also collecting 100 per cent advance payment 2 /3 months before delivery date (which itself is undefined) is never heard of in the industry!!"

Ola Electric is currently building the S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters, with an all-women work crew, at its Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The factory, which is spread over 500 acres, will have a production capacity of 10 million vehicles per year when fully completed. Ola says that it will be the largest, most advanced two-wheeler factory in the world, and it has already completed phase 1 construction.
