Ford India has introduced its in-vehicle communications and entertainment system - Ford SYNC - in its popular EcoSport sub-compact SUV. With this, the EcoSport has become the second Ford product in India to support this in-car technology, after the Fiesta, that enable customers to access their smartphone applications through simple voice-commands. That said, it will only be made available on the Titanium trim of the urban SUV.
"Introduction of Ford AppLink enhances the value proposition offered by Ford EcoSport," said Anurag Mehrotra, executive director Marketing Sales and Service, at Ford India. "Consumers today are leading an increasingly connected lifestyle and wish to stay up-to-date even while on the move. Ford AppLink addresses this unmet need and helps them stay connected without ever compromising on convenience."
Ford is working with several app partners in India and across the globe to add to the list of Ford AppLink compatible apps. The company has recently added ESPN Cricinfo for cricket lovers who wish to stay updated on the go. Besides ESPN Cricinfo, other mobile phone applications are a location-based app 'explore by MapMyIndia and a global, secure location sharing app - Glympse.
