The BR-V is the latest offering from Honda Cars India (HCIL) to hit the Indian roads and is the company's first maiden offering in the compact SUV segment. Based on the Brio platform, the BR-V gets a completely redesigned front with more muscular and beefy elements, whereas the rear profile gets a sharp lines and quite an urban appeal. The side profile though is similar to the Mobilio MPV, also based on the Brio platform with the 'lightning bolt' lines retained.

Inside, the new Honda BR-V gets premium looking cabin similar to the ones found on the Honda Jazz and City models, finished in black. The compact SUV is loaded with all essential features including an infotainment system with Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity, parking sensors, steering mounted controls (on the top variants) among other bits. The BR-V also gets steering mounted paddle shifters on the automatic version. The BR-V also holds the credit of being the only compact SUV in the segment to be a 7-seater.

Engine options include the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel that are available with a 6-speed manual and a CVT (only petrol) transmission. The diesel motor returns an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 21.9 km/l, while the petrol returns 15.4 km/l in the manual mode and 16.km/l in the automatic avatar. Honda's compact SUV will be locking horns with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano in the segment.
