Lexus New Electric SUV Teased

- The new Lexus electric SUV is expected to be positioned above the RZ450e.
- It is likely to be a mid-size five-seater electric SUV.
- It adopts Lexus' family design language seen in other EV prototypes.
Toyota and Lexus pulled off a surprise towards the end of 2021 when they teased their future mobility concepts range covering most market segments. The details of those concepts were sparse but have started surfacing gradually now. Lexus has teased its upcoming electric SUV which is expected to be positioned above the RZ450e in the brand's battery powered product range. Lexus has published new pictures of this upcoming battery electric SUV which looks like one of the seven vehicles in teased in December last year.

The new Lexus electric SUV looks a size bigger than the RZ450e but not big enough for a range-topping SUV that can accommodate seven passengers. In fact, it is expected to be on the premium side of the mid-size five-seater SUV category. The brand's family design language too is quite prominent in this SUV sporting a large spindle shape for the grille area that we have seen on other Lexus EV prototypes as well. The latest photos provide a profile and rear three-quarter view of the SUV as well. It features vent creases in the rear bumper and a full-width taillight bar that appears to extend around the rear fenders and over the tires.

Form what we collected from the event last year, Toyota and Lexus are looking forward to offer 30 EVs together by the end of the decade. Lexus will take its first step towards its target with the RZ450e that's supposed to debut sometime this year and most likely will be followed by this mid-size SUV. The RX450e hares its underpinnings with the Toyota bZ4x and Subaru Solterra, but hasn't given any word on sharing the platform to underpin Its EVs. That said, the electrified future for Lexus looks quite promising, with wagons, a convertible, and a hypercar in the pipeline.
