McLaren's Long Time CEO Mike Flewitt Has Resigned


- Flewitt was in charge of the motorcar division since 2013
- Under his charge it launched cars like the P1, Senna, 720S and Speedtrail
- His responsibilities will be shared by Michael Macht and Paul Walsh
Mike Flewitt who has been the long-time CEO of McLaren Automotive, the motorcar division of the McLaren Group has resigned after 8 years at the helm. He joined McLaren in July 2013 and has taken the automotive division to new heights. The Woking-based supercar maker has already started a hunt for his successor.

"I feel incredibly proud to have led McLaren Automotive through most of its first, highly-successful decade and am privileged to have played a part in the incredible McLaren story. This young company's success is testament to the many passionate and talented people I have had the pleasure of working with and I look forward to seeing that success continue," Flewitt said in a statement.
McLaren said Flewitt has been "instrumental" during his time at the company.
"We thank Mike for his tremendous contribution and wish him all the very best in his future endeavours," said Paul Walsh, executive chairman of the McLaren Group, in a statement.
Michael Macht, the non-executive director of the McLaren group will reportedly oversee technical and operational functions in the meanwhile during the transition army period while Chairman Paul Walsh will lead sales, marketing, and public relations.
Under Flewitt, cars like the McLaren P1, Senna, 720s and Speedtrail were launched as it diversified beyond just hypercars.
McLaren's racing division is headed by American Zak Brown who has been doing a great job of turning around the operations of the F1 race team and IndyCar team. Under Brown, the team won its first race in 9 years and in 2020 managed P3 in the F1 constructor's championship.
