New-Gen Triumph Speed Triple Spotted Testing

- The updates are similar to that of the new-gen Street Triple
- There is no confirmation on the launch timeline of the new bike
- The engine might get a different state of tune
Triumph Motorcycles is currently on a roll. The British motorcycle manufacturer recently unveiled the Bonneville Speedmaster and the Bonneville Bobber Black. Also on the cards are the new-gen Tiger 800 and the new-gen Speed Triple. Recently, spyshots of what seems to be the new Speed Triple, surfaced on the internet. The spyshot reveals that the styling is pretty similar to that of the current gen Street Triple range. It is actually difficult to spot the differences with naked eye. The new-gen Speed Triple was spotted testing in June this year. Visual differences include a new TFT (thin film transistor) instrumentation console on the bike, which has already been seen on the new-gen Triumph Tiger Explorer. The other difference was the 5-spoke alloy wheels instead of the earlier 10-spoke wheels on offer.

The spyshot also shows the sub-frame and the exhausts to be re-worked but similar to the Street Triple. While it is unclear whether this is simply a new-gen test mule or the previous-gen bike with subtle upgrades, we can say that the Triumph new-gen Speed Triple might not be launched anytime soon. Earlier reports suggested that the new-gen Speed Triple might be launched at EICMA this year, but we have our doubts.

The current gen Speed Triple was given updates last year in form of ride-by-wire, 5 riding modes along with switchable traction control. It gets a 1,050 cc inline three motor which makes 133 bhp and 111 Nm of peak torque. The new-gen Speed Triple could get more electronics along with increased power and torque outputs.
