Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster Breaks Cover

Triumph has finally take the wraps off the Bonneville Speedmaster at an event held in Hinckley, England, the home of Triumph. The Speedmaster is the latest addition to the Triumph Bonneville family and is based on the Triumph Bonneville Bobber. The Speedmaster looks and feels every bit retro as the other Bonneville bikes but carries a charm of its own. The bike keeps its old-school heritage intact, getting carburettor-like throttle bodies, machined engine fins and the signature Bobber 'hard-tail' look as well. In addition, you get 'nacelle' detailing on the headlamp, a battery-box, 16-inch wire spoke wheels and a twin-seat setup (optional).

The standard list of features include ride-by-wire, switchable traction control, ABS, two riding modes (road and rain), cruise control and a full LED headlamp with a DRL. As far as the engine is concerned, the Speedmaster uses the same engine as the Bonneville Bobber, which is a 1,200 cc parallel-twin high torque engine which is liquid-cooled, and pumps out 76 bhp at 6,100 rpm and a hearty 106 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission and also gets a torque-assisted clutch for quicker gearshifts. The capacity of the fuel tank has gone up to 12 litres from 9.1 litres in the Bonneville Bobber.

Coming to the differences between the Bobber and the Speedmaster, the latter gets a 310 mm twin-disc brake setup at the front along with a slightly fatter tyre as well. Triumph will also be offering two accessories kit along which are the 'Highway kit' and the 'Maverick kit'. The highway kit gets a full set of soft-luggage panniers while the maverick kit gets a single seat and raked out bars for that laid-back look. In addition, Triumph will also be offering over 130 custom bits which include a Vance & Hines exhaust, adjustable touring screens, highway pegs and so on and so forth.
