Triumph Bonneville Bobber Black Makes Its Global Debut

- The Triumph Bonneville Bobber Black is a 2018 model
- It gets an all-black colour scheme along with a few new features
- The engine remains the same as the standard Bonneville Bobber
Along with the Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster, the company also showcased the new Triumph Bonneville Bobber Black which looks to add another model to the Bonneville Bobber line-up, which Triumph says, is the fastest selling motorcycle in the company's 115-year history. Needless to say, the Bobber Black gets an all-black colour scheme and some extra features over the standard Bonneville Bobber. Beginning with the colour options first. Yes! The Bobber Black is available in two colours, which are the jet black and the matt jet black. Triumph has beautifully painted a shade of either black all over the bike including the exhaust, engine, side panels, brake and gear pedals, clutch and brake levers and the fuel tank as well.

The idea was to introduce a dark and mean streak to the Bonneville Bobber and going simply by the photographs, we would say that the company has succeeded in doing so. Speaking about the differences, the Bobber Black gets updated brakes at the front which is a 310mm Brembo twin-disc setup as compared to a single disc on the standard Bobber. The Showa forks at the front are meatier at 47 mm diameter, on the Bobber Black in comparison to 41 mm on the regular Bobber. Also, the wheel up front is a chunkier 16-inch wire-spoked unit with a fatter tyre wrapped around it. The headlamp is a full LED units with a DRL (daytime running light) and cruise control is a standard feature. The Bobber Black is also 9.5 kg heavier than the standard Bobber.

The other features include ride-by-wire with two riding modes (road and rain) along with switchable traction control and ABS. The engine unit remains the same as the standard Bobber, which is a 1,200 cc high torque, liquid-cooled engine that makes 76 bhp at 6,100 rpm and a peak torque of 106 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission with a torque-assist clutch which makes quick gearshifts easier.
(Triumph Bonneville Bobber Black: engine)Triumph will also be offering over 120 custom accessories to choose from. These include a Vance & Hines exhaust, heated grips, short mudguards, ape hanger handlebars and so on. Triumph hasn't categorically mentioned whether the Bonneville Bobber Black would be coming to India or not, so that bit is left open-ended for time being. We do hope that Triumph will consider bringing the same to India though.
