Tata Nano Twist F-Tronic could be cheapest automatic transmission car

Tata Motors showcased the Nano Twist F-Tronic at the recently concluded 2014 Auto Expo, which is basically a semi-automatic version of the car with an open-able hatch lid. Equipped with an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) gearbox, the Nano F-Tronic could become the cheapest automatic car in the world, when it goes on sale.
The Automated Manual Transmission is originally a manual transmission with an automatic clutch, making the vehicle an even more effort-less to drive on city roads. The AMT gearbox equipped in the Nano is a five-speed gearbox, based on the existing four-speed manual transmission. Tata Motors also introduced the new Bolt hatchback and Zest sedan with Automated Manual Transmission, recently. So, with F-Tronic range of cars, the Indian auto major is aiming to shift market scenario with its F-Tronic range of cars.
The AMT unit fitted in the F-Tronic range has been developed by Magnetic Marelli, a famous Italy based firm, which is supplying transmissions for the Formula 1 motorsports race cars.Other than the open-able tail gate, the Nano F-Tronic also has a bigger 25-litres of fuel tank, which makes it an even more practical car for city purposes.
The car showcased at the expo also featured a redesigned bumper and black accents surrounding the headlights. The company hasn't officially announced the launch date of the car, but we are expecting it to come by 2014 end or early 2015.
