Top 4 Rivals: Skoda Rapid

Skoda Auto India's Rapid compact sedan is the company's best-selling car and that's because it has a lot to offer at an affordable price. The sedan is offered in six variants - Rider, Rider Plus, Ambition, Onyx, Style and Monte Carlo. While the Rider variant is available with manual option only, the remaining variants get automatic options too The prices for the manual variants start at Rs. 7.79 lakh for the Rider trim, going up to Rs. 11.99 lakh for the Monte Carlo variant. However, the automatic trims are priced from Rs. 9.69 lakh to Rs. 13.29 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, India). Here are the top 4 rivals
1) Honda City

The new-gen Honda City comes with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC DOHC petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional CVT unit for the petrol version. The City is priced at Rs. 11 lakh to Rs. 14.95 lakh
2) Volkswagen Vento

The Vento is based on the same platform as the Rapid. It too gets the same 1.0 TSI turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and is priced from Rs. 9.99 lakh to Rs. 13.83 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
3) Hyundai Verna

Like the City, the Verna too comes in both petrol and diesel engine option, but unlike the City, here both get an automatic option. The Verna also gets a turbo-petrol engine with a DCT automatic. The car is priced between Rs. 9.19 lakh to Rs. 15.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
4) Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz gets a 1.5-litre motor that is mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an optional 4-speed automatic torque converter. However, the Ciaz has not become a bit dated. It is priced between Rs. 8.52 lakh and Rs. 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
