Ferrari FF is the first model to feature Apple CarPlay

If you want to check out Apple's brand new iOS for the dashboard, then you have to head to the Geneva Motorshow, for it here that the Ferrari FF is on display. The FF is the first car to get the CarPlay system.
This is the meeting of two worlds - Ferrari and Siri. The CarPlay system incorporates features from the iPhone inside the car. What CarPlay does, is connect to a vehicle's infotainment system through the AirPlay media streaming protocol and allows owners to text, call, listen to music/radio and navigate via the Siri-based voice or touch inputs.
To be first made available on select Ferrari, Volvo and Mercedes-Benz models, Apple has made the CarPlay system compatible only with the iPhone 5 series for the time being. It is installed in the Ferrari FF through a lightning adapter but Apple says that there is a wireless in the offing.
Ferrari will continue to utilize the proprietary infotainment system but users will be able to access CarPlay by pressing a virtual button located on the dashboard. The user interface, once loaded, bears a strong resemblance to the way an iPhone functions. So, it's right up the alley for those iPhone users.
Post getting it in Ferrari, Volvo and the Mercedes-Benz models, Apple's CarPlay will find its way inside cars from BMW, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot and a few more.
