Mahindra & Mahindra today launched a special edition of the Scorpio. In its 11th year now, the Scorpio has seen Mahindra's fortunes turn and set themselves as giants in the SUV segment. As Mahindra puts it, the new edition is 'targeted at style seekers and adventure enthusiasts alike' which is why only 500 units will be made.
The special edition will be priced at Rs 11.88 lacs (ex-showroom Delhi, BS4) and comes with some tweaks to the exterior and interior of the car.
The Scorpio gets chrome plated alloy wheels and racy decals, while the interiors come with high gloss wood finish centre bezel and the rich tan and beige European leather seat upholstery.
The steering wheel, gear shift and gear knob too come encased in leather. The Scorpio Special Edition also gets a roof mounted 9" DVD player. There is no change in the engine department and the Scorpio gets the same 2.2-litre 120bhp churning mHawk engine.
What it gets though is a load full of safety features like ABS (Anti lock braking System) and Airbags, EST (Extra Stability Technology) Suspension, Intellipark with sensors in the rear bumper for easier reverse parking, intelligent rain and light sensors that automatically control wipers and headlights and Tyre-Tronics, a sophisticated measuring system that gives updates on exact air pressure and temperature on each tyre.
Vivek Nayer, Chief Marketing Officer, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, "An unmitigated success since its launch, the iconic Scorpio has kept up the momentum even in its 11th year. I am sure that this limited edition will create a new benchmark in class and exclusivity to further spruce up the appeal of the Mighty Muscular Scorpio for its consumers."
