Tata Punch 2026

Introduction

• The latest iteration of the Tata Punch was launched at the start of 2026.
• The 2026 Punch is a facelifted version of the car that has been a successful B-SUV for the carmaker, rivalling the Hyundai Exter and the Citroen C3.
• It has been topping the sales charts ever since its launch in October 2021, crossing four lakh cumulative sales by 2024.
• It is known for its compact size yet SUV-like looks and is a step up from the existing hatchbacks.
• Tata Motors rolled out an update later in 2024, and its facelifted model is the one now on sale.
• The last update adds cosmetic changes and more features with revised variants at a starting price of Rs. 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom).

• The updated Tata Punch is being offered in many variants or what Tata calls them Personas.
• These include Smart, Pure, Pure +, Adventure, Accomplished, and Accomplished+ S, the latter being the top-spec model.
• As for the cosmetic changes, there’s a redesigned front fascia, with a split headlamp setup similar to the outgoing version.
• Even the alloy wheels have changed with a new pattern.
• At the back, the Punch gets new LED tail lamps with an integrated, connected LED unit.
• The exterior colour options of the Punch SUV now include a new Cyantafic (blue), Caramel (reddish-yellow), Bengal Rouge (red), and Coorg Clouds (white).
• The overall design and styling continue to appeal to the buyers who want to go a step up from the hatchbacks.

• As for the features, the upgraded Punch boasts a much larger 10.25-inch infotainment system as against the original smaller integrated system.
• Its top-spec variants get wireless smartphone connectivity (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), wireless charger, rear AC vents, and a centre armrest for the front passengers.
• Interestingly, all the aforementioned features have also been carried over to the respective CNG-powered versions as well.
• The 2024 Punch even comes equipped with a USB Type-C charging port in the centre console.
• It gets a smartphone wireless charger and 65W fast charging support as well.
• In terms of the other feature set, it remains unchanged from its outgoing model.
• Also, it continues to hold the record for the safest car in its class with a five-star safety rating in the latest Bharat NCAP crash test.

Powertrain of the 2026 Tata Punch

• Mechanically, the Tata Punch is powered by a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
• This turbo-petrol produces 118bhp and 170Nm of torque.
• Then, there’s also the 1.2-litre NA petrol engine producing 87bhp and 115Nm of torque.
• This one is offered in two versions including the standard petrol and another a petrol version with CNG.
• Now, even the CNG version comes with an automatic, so both variants are bundled with a five-speed manual and an AMT gearbox.
• Power continues to be sent to the front wheels only.
