Pros Cons of Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Pros

  • The AMG Line exterior kit brings aggressive bumpers and handsome 19-inch wheels, giving it a commanding road presence.
  • The high-tech cabin replaces wood with gloss-black trim, offering an opulent, mini S-Class lounge experience at a bargain.
  • The suspension setup isolates passengers flawlessly, making it the ultimate long-distance highway cruiser.
  • The 3.0-litre straight-six engine version delivers a blistering 387 bhp, rocketing the massive sedan from 0-100 kmph in 4.5 seconds.
  • Standard 4MATIC All-Wheel Drive provides exceptional traction, keeping the heavy luxury sedan completely planted through high-speed curves.

Cons

  • Its weight and large proportions prevent it from feeling agile, lacking the playful sharpness of smaller sport sedans.
  • The ultra-light steering feels completely disconnected, offering very little feedback when pushing hard into corners.
  • The factory tyres seem to lack appropriate grip for the power available and let too much road noise filter inside.
  • The non-functional, fake chrome exhaust trim on the rear bumper looks tacky on a genuine performance-packed machine.
  • At a such a price tag, missing rear seat massagers and entertainment screens feels like a huge oversight.

Verdict

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class, more so the E450, is a fascinating machine, but don't mistake it for a pure, tyre-shredding sleeper. While its straight-six engine puts down enough power to leave sports cars staring at its taillights, the vehicle itself has matured way too much to act like a track tool. No matter what, it can't disguise its stately, comfort-first dimensions.

Bilal Firfiray rightfully pointed out in his review:

“And despite offering a bigger engine, it hasn’t given up on any of the comforts it offers to the rear seat occupant who will be buying this car for their quick commute to and from the office.”

This car wasn't built for track days or weekend canyon carving; it was built to offer effortless, continent-crossing power for the corporate elite sitting in the back seat. Nevertheless, if you are looking for a nimble, lightweight driver's car that delivers a raw adrenaline rush, you will be much happier saving your money and getting a sharper, lighter sport sedan.
