Nissan's low-cost car brand Datsun has started taking pre-orders for the GO hatchback across India. Buyers can pre-book the car for Rs 11,000 at any Nissan dealership, however, the deliveries will only commence after the car prices are announced. Debuted in July last year, the car was showcased at the recently held Auto Expo 2014 in four colours.
Based on the old Micra platform, the Datsun Go will be an entry level hatchback at an expected price of Rs 3 lakh. At this price, the Go will lock horns with Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and likes. Measuring 3785mm in length, 1635mm in width, 1485mm in height and 2450mm in wheelbase, the car offers a good cabin space.
Powering the Go is a 1.2-litre petrol engine, which mated to a five-speed manual transmission produces a maximum power output of 74bhp and 104Nm of torque. The engine is the same powering the Micra, though it has been tuned for better fuel efficiency in the case of Datsun Go. The car will return 20.6kmpl of mileage.
The car will be launched by the end of March 2014.
