Key Highlights
In a bid to boost the 'value for money' proposition for the all-electric e2o, Mahindra Reva has reworked the pricing to separate the car and battery cost to the consumer. The electric car will now cost Rs 4.82 lakhs (on road in Delhi) compared to Rs 5.99 lakh earlier.
The battery cost and maintenance will now be charged monthly starting from Rs 2,599 for the base e2O model to Rs 2,999 for the top-end variant. This is for a period of over 5 years. Mahindra Reva will also guarantee the performance and take ownership of the battery. Other services, in this new price package, include 24X7 assistance and replacement car during the battery repair period.
With this new payment scheme, Mahindra Reva hopes to allay fears of battery cost and maintenance by consumers and revive the dull sales of the e2O. The company has sold under 500 vehicles in the last 12 months of which 40% of the sales were in Bangalore.
Also to deal with the lack of the charging infrastructure, Mahindra Reva has launched Quick2Charge stations for the e2o to be charged under 60 minutes. But this facility will be available on the top-end variant only which will now have Smart Ports for quick charging. Mahindra Reva will initially launch 15-20 Quick2Charge stations across Bangalore.
Mahindra Reva is currently exporting the e2o to Nepal and plans to start exports by Europe during the second half of 2014.
