Mercedes-Benz revealed the Vision Gran Turismo virtual concept destined for the latest instalment in the Gran Turismo franchise on PlayStation 3. The Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo will be available as downloadable content on Gran Turismo 6 which comes out on December 6 2013.
One look at it and you hope that it'll be seen on public roads, but it's not to be. However, Mercedes has built a 1:1 scale model for the opening of their Research & Development Center in Sunnyvale, California.
Power comes from an AMG V8 engine delivering 577 bhp and 799 Nm of torque wrapped around in a body that weighs 1,384 kg. AMG's high-performance ceramic composite brakes also make their way into the car while at the back there are no less than eight tailpipes generating as Mercedes puts it "sonorous exhausts note that authentically celebrates the V8's love of high engine speeds".
The Vision Gran Turismo comes with an F1-inspired cockpit with red integral sport seats. The centre display floats above the racing steering wheel providing all the necessary data while operation is handled via the rocker switches placed in the dashboard's centre as well as in an overhead console.
It is probably one of those crazy cars that Mercedes might never bring to production but as far as gamers go, the German car manufacturer has got them hooked to their cars.
