Looking for a fuel-efficient Indian car, i.e. one that gives you excellent mileage? Here are the top mileage cars in the country (mileage figures are approximate and may vary):

- Maruti Suzuki Dzire AMT- The Maruti Suzuki Dzire AMT version is the car that offers arguably the highest fuel economy in the country. The Dzire facelift gets a K12N 1.2 litre petrol mill and start-stop functionality. It is slightly more powerful in this avatar and gets 5-speed manual and AMT options which ensure mileage of roughly 23.26 kmpl and 24.12 kmpl respectively.
- Maruti Suzuki Baleno or Toyota Glanza- The Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza both offer mileage of approximately 23.87 kmpl with their 1.2 litre 90 hp engines. They also get decent features and efficient functionalities like a 12V lithium-ion battery for energy recuperation and power assist. Both premium cars also come with 1.2 litre 83 hp petrol engines that offer roughly 21.01 kmpl and 19.56 kmpl for the manual and CVT variants respectively.
- Maruti Suzuki Swift AMT- The Maruti Suzuki Swift AMT version gets a K12N 90 hp petrol mill and 5-speed manual and AMT options like the Dzire. The engine makes 23.76 kmpl and 23.2 kmpl for the AMT and manual variants respectively.
- Maruti Suzuki Alto- India's highest-sold car offers 22.05 kmpl (approx) with its 0.8 litre 48 hp engine. The Alto also comes with a CNG version that offers 31.5 km/kg.
- Renault Kwid 1.0 AMT- The Renault Kwid AMT model offers 22 kmpl courtesy of its 1.0 litre 68 hp engine. The 0.8 litre 54 hp engine makes 20.71 kmpl approximately, while the manual 1.0 litre engine offers 21.74 kmpl. The car is slightly more economic as compared to the Redi-Go from Datsun, its sibling.
