New BMW i3 To Arrive Next Year

- The BMW i3 was launched in 2013
- BMW sold only 25,000 units of the i3 last year
- The new i3 will get a longer range and revamped design
Electric vehicles have continually gained impetus in markets across the globe in the past few years. Most, if not all, manufacturers are having a go at it, including bigwigs such as Daimler, Toyota, Jaguar Land Rover, Volkswagen, etc. While BMW started off in 2013 with the all-electric i3, the car has failed to see competent demand. However, considering the growing popularity of Tesla cars and competition in the segment, the German luxury carmaker plans to ready a new i3 for round two.
Welt am Sonntag, a German weekly, claims BMW will launch a new version of the electric car next year. The publication, citing company sources, adds that the new BMW i3 will get a longer range and revamped design.

BMW i3
The first among its German peers to move in on electric mobility, the company's massive investment in the segment lead to uninspiring sales - it sold sold only 25,000 units of the i3 last year. Anyway, back to the reportedly upcoming new BMW i3 - the company will redesign the front and rear of the i3 and rig it with a new battery that will allow for a considerably increased range. The BMW i3 currently offers a maximum driving range of 300Km.

BMW i3 and i8
Other than the overhauled i3, the company's new electric vehicles offensive will allegedly also include fully-electric versions of other BMW cars. Word has it that this will include all-electric 3 Series, X3, and MINI models.
