New Volkswagen Vento Facelift Launch Expected in September

Volkswagen India is readying for its next launch, the Vento facelift which is expected to be rolled out in India this month only. Though there is yet no information on the launch date but it has been learnt that VW could launch updated Vento in India in September. Sources working closely with Volkswagen reveal that production of the current model has already been barred hence reinforcing at the launch to be happening soon. Facelifted Vento too has been spotted undergoing test runs several times across the country.
VW has apparently bestowed limited cosmetic changes that comprise of new bumper in front and at the rear, revised head lights and redesigned alloy wheels. The cabin too is expected to receive slight changes, in terms of features. One of the major changes in new Vento will be the addition of new 1.5 litre TDI diesel engine that is currently serving in new Polo diesel. Just so you know, the 1.5 litre TDI engine is a stripped down version of the previous 1.6 litre diesel motor.
This four-cylinder turbo diesel engine is capable of producing 105bhp along with peak torque of 250Nm. The diesel engine will be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission as a standard option, and a 7-speed DSG automatic tranny will also be offered as optional. Petrol variants are expected to continue being powered with the current 1.2 litre TSI engine and 1.6 litre MPI engine. The 1.2 litre TSI variant is synchronized to a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox, while the 1.6 litre MPI engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The new Vento is likely to be costlier than its current version because of addition of new features. Volkswagen is working towards revival of its sales to enhance its market share in India that fell to almost 2 per cent. The revival plan includes overhauling the current line-up and bringing in new products. From the current line-up Polo has already received a facelift and its GT variants too are now available for grabs at VW outlets.
