2014 Auto Expo: New 2014 BMW X5 is here

The third-generation BMW X5 has finally made its appearance at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The SUV has already been doing well in several International markets, and will be launched here sometime in the second quarter of 2014. The SUV first made its debut at the 2013 Frankurt Motor Show.
Wearing new LED integrated headlamps, bold kidney grilles with chrome borders, two taillights and various other styling elements, the 2014 BMW X5 looks more masculine, outgoing and sportier than before. The new X5 is bigger version of the existing model, which measures around 1938mm width, 4886mm length and 1762mm height. However, the wheelbase (2933mm) remains the same.
The changes go more apparent when you step inside the cabin, with the new four round gauges on instrument panel, ventilation systems with black panel technology, freestanding 10.2 inches control display monitor, 360 degree surround view parking assistant, road sign information and many more. The new X5 has a boot space of 650-litres.
The 2014 BMW X5 derives power from a 4.4-litre petrol engine that produces a peak power of 407bhp with a healthy torque of 600Nm. The diesel variants come powered with a 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel unit that belts out a maximum power output of 245bhp with 540Nm of torque. A 375bhp, 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine is also on the cards.
But the biggest news from the BMW stable is that the X5 will be produced locally at the company's Chennai plant and will be introduced in the market in the third quarter of 2014.
