Hero's Journey on Indian Roads
Hero's journey began in the 1980s with the Hero Honda partnership, which introduced reliable and fuel-efficient motorcycles to Indian buyers. Bikes like the CD100 and Splendor quickly became household names, helping millions of people commute every day while keeping running costs low. Even after Hero and Honda parted ways, Hero MotoCorp continued to build on that legacy and has grown into one of the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturers.
Today, Hero's lineup goes well beyond commuter motorcycles. Along with popular bikes like the Splendor, HF Deluxe, Glamour and Super Splendor, the company now offers sporty motorcycles, adventure bikes, premium roadsters, scooters and Hero electric bikes under the VIDA brand. This wider range means buyers can stay with Hero as their riding needs change over time.
Hero also invests heavily in research and development, with engineering centres in India and overseas helping develop new products for both domestic and global markets. The company manufactures its bikes and scooters at multiple plants across India and has one of the country's largest sales and service networks.
In recent years, Hero has worked to change the way people see the brand. While dependable commuter bikes remain its biggest strength, motorcycles like the XPulse series, Mavrick 440 and Karizma XMR have helped Hero establish a stronger presence in the premium and adventure segments. At the same time, the VIDA range reflects the company's growing focus on electric mobility.
If you're buying your first motorcycle or upgrading to a more powerful machine, Hero continues to focus on what has always made it popular. Their two-wheelers are dependable performers, offer good fuel efficiency, practical features and value for money.
Find Your Ideal Hero Bike

Technology That Powers Hero Bikes and Scooters
Hero has gradually added more technology across its bikes and scooters while keeping them simple to ride and affordable to own. Whether you're buying an everyday commuter or one of the brand's premium motorcycles, many newer Hero bikes now come with features that make daily riding easier and more convenient.
Smart Features for Everyday Riding
Many Hero bikes and scooters are available with digital or semi-digital instrument consoles that display useful information such as real-time mileage, gear position, service reminders and distance-to-empty. Higher variants also offer Bluetooth connectivity for call alerts, message notifications and turn-by-turn navigation.
i3S Technology
One feature Hero is well known for is its Idle Stop-Start System (i3S). Available on several commuter motorcycles, it automatically switches off the engine when the bike is stationary for a short time and restarts it with a simple clutch action. This helps reduce fuel consumption, especially in stop-and-go city traffic.
XTEC Models Offer More Features
Hero has expanded its XTEC range across several popular motorcycles and scooters. Depending on the model, XTEC variants can include LED lighting, Bluetooth connectivity, USB charging, digital displays and other convenience features, giving buyers more equipment without moving to a completely different motorcycle.
From Commuters to Adventure Bikes
Hero's lineup has become much more diverse over the years. Riders looking for affordable commuting have options like the Splendor and HF series, while motorcycles such as the XPulse, Mavrick 440 and Karizma XMR offer more performance, touring ability and modern features. The company has also entered electric mobility through the VIDA range, giving buyers more choices if they're considering Hero electric bikes for city use.
Safety You Get with Hero Bikes
Hero has steadily improved safety across its range by introducing better braking systems, rider aids and stronger chassis designs. While features vary depending on the model, many newer bikes and scooters now offer more equipment than earlier generations.
ABS and Combined Braking System
Many premium Hero motorcycles are equipped with single-channel or dual-channel ABS, while several commuter bikes and scooters feature the Combined Braking System (CBS). These systems help improve braking stability and control, especially during sudden stops.
Better Control and Rider Confidence
Models like the XPulse series, Xtreme range and Mavrick 440 are designed with wider tyres, improved suspension and stronger braking hardware to provide better grip and confidence on different types of roads. Adventure motorcycles like the XPulse also include features suited to rough terrain and uneven surfaces.
Everyday Safety Features
Depending on the model, Hero bikes and scooters may come with side-stand engine cut-off, LED headlamps, hazard lamps, engine kill switches and wider tubeless tyres. These features make everyday riding more convenient while also improving safety.
Built for Indian Roads
Hero develops many of its motorcycles with Indian riding conditions in mind. Comfortable ergonomics, predictable handling and durable suspension setups help make its bikes and scooters suitable for daily commutes as well as longer weekend rides.
Why So Many Riders Choose Hero Bikes & Scooters
Hero has remained one of India's most popular two-wheeler brands by focusing on what matters most to everyday riders.
- Excellent fuel efficiency: Many Hero commuter bikes are known for delivering impressive mileage, helping reduce everyday running costs.
- Reliable everyday performance: Hero motorcycles have earned a reputation for dependable engines that are built for regular use.
- Wide range of choices: From commuter bikes and family scooters to adventure motorcycles, premium roadsters and Hero electric bikes, the brand offers something for almost every rider.
- Affordable ownership: Competitive pricing, easy maintenance and good parts availability make Hero bikes economical to own.
- Strong service network: Hero has one of the largest dealership and service networks in India, making support easily accessible in most cities and towns.
- Good resale value: Popular models such as the Splendor, HF Deluxe and Glamour continue to perform well in the used two-wheeler market.
What It's Like to Own a Hero Bike or Scooter
One of Hero's biggest strengths is the overall ownership experience. The brand has spent decades building a large support network, making it easier for owners to maintain their bikes and scooters almost anywhere in the country.
Service Network
Hero has one of the largest sales and service networks in India. Whether you need regular servicing, genuine spare parts or you're looking for a Hero bike showroom near me, authorised dealerships and workshops are widely available.
Warranty and Roadside Support
Hero offers a standard manufacturer warranty on its bikes and scooters, along with extended warranty options and roadside assistance on selected models for added peace of mind.
Spare Parts and Maintenance
Routine servicing is generally affordable, and genuine spare parts are widely available across the country. Popular commuter models are especially known for their low maintenance costs.
Resale Value and Reliability
Many Hero motorcycles continue to enjoy good resale value because of their popularity and reputation for reliability. With regular servicing, models like the Splendor, HF Deluxe and Super Splendor are often used for years without major issues.
Buying a Hero Scooter or Bike? Here's What to Consider
Hero offers a wide range of bikes and scooters, but choosing the right one depends on how and where you'll ride.
- Commuter bikes focus on practicality: Models like the Splendor and HF Deluxe are designed for fuel efficiency and everyday reliability rather than outright performance.
- Features differ between variants: Bluetooth connectivity, digital consoles and other premium equipment are usually available on higher variants such as XTEC models.
- Premium motorcycles have a smaller network: Some premium Hero motorcycles are sold through Hero Premia dealerships, which may not be available in every city.
- Electric options suit city use: If you're considering Hero electric bikes, make sure charging options fit your daily routine.
- Pick a bike that matches your riding style: Hero's lineup ranges from simple commuter motorcycles to adventure bikes and premium roadsters, so it's worth comparing models before making a decision.
Expert Buying Tips from car&bike
Buying the right Hero is about choosing the bike or scooter that fits your everyday needs rather than simply picking the most popular model.
- If your priority is fuel efficiency and low running costs, commuter bikes like the Splendor, HF Deluxe and Super Splendor are among the best options.
- If you're comparing 125cc Hero bikes, look at the Super Splendor, Glamour X 125 and Xtreme 125R to see which best matches your riding style.
- Riders who enjoy touring or occasional off-road trips should consider the XPulse range, while the Mavrick 440 is better suited to relaxed highway cruising.
- Compare variants before booking, as higher trims often include useful features such as Bluetooth connectivity, LED lighting and digital displays.
- Finally, take a proper test ride before making your decision. Riding comfort, seat height and handling can vary significantly across Hero's wide range of bikes and scooters.

- Overall oky oky Bike4.0Nankau DesaiThe Hero Karizma XMR is a good bike for those who love sporty rides. The engine performance is strong, and it offers good acceleration. However, the fuel efficiency isn’t great, especially in city traffic. The seating comfort is okay for short trips but can be a bit tiring for longer rides. The design is eye-catching, but I expected more modern tech features. Overall, it’s a fun bike, but with some trade-offs.Posted on: 2024-09-27 11:28:3900

- Perfect for office commute5.0Shreya IyerI took the VX2 Plus 3.4 kWh with Battery as a Service plan, so upfront cost was very low. Daily 30 km office in Bangalore and I charge once in 3 days. Real range in Eco is around 105-110 km. Removable battery is the best part, I charge it in my flat since parking has no plug point. Under seat space 27 litres, my helmet and laptop bag both go. Ride mode change is fun, Sport mode pickup is quick. Very happy.Posted on: 2026-10-21 12:45:1800
- Long Term review after 2 years of riding5.0LaPulga32k on the odo, not a single issue with the the bike. Rear wheel was changed at 24k, planning to change the front one soon. Chainset was changed at 19k and 31k. The brake pads especially rear one are changed frequently, my daily commute involves driving 15 kms on the hwy at speeds more than 110 kmph which is why average is 30-32, hwy touring at 95-100 kmph easily gets you 36 kmpl, great at eating bumps, the front wheel does not have a very good wheelbase which is why you gotta be careful while doing offroads or undulations.Posted on: 2024-05-15 09:15:2261
- The perfect Do it All motorcycle within a budget5.0Tejas ChurmureFor 2 lakhs i would say this is a great dual sport motorcycle. Ideal for city due to it’s light weight, great on highways as well and obviously shines offroad. Seat comfort and breaking performance could be better but still considering it’s price, one of the best bikes under 2 lakhs.Posted on: 2026-06-02 20:38:38488
