BMW has revealed its eagerly awaited 2 Series coupe ahead of a public debut at the Detroit Motor Show. The successor to the rear-wheel drive 1 Series coupe is 4432mm in length, 1774mm wider and 1418mm taller. It's longer, wider and lower than the outgoing 1 Series coupe and also has a longer wheelbase.
The 2 Series will get a twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0 litre 6-cylinder petrol engine which will churn out 321bhp. It will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, which will come as the standard model. The 2 Series will be capable of going from 0-100km/h in 5 seconds.
The interior is more or less like the second-generation 1 Series hatchback which includes dashboard, front seats and switchgear. Among the standard equipments planned for the 2 Series coupe are air conditioning, a leather-bound multi-function steering wheel, rear park sensors, automatic dimming rear view mirror and LED tail-lights.
BMW will assemble the 2 Series coupe at its Leipzig factory.
