Ford To Launch New Compact Utility Vehicle This Month

- Ford's new Compact Utility Vehicle could be the rumoured Figo Cross
- Ford says that its new CUV will be powered by an all-new engine
- The new Ford CUV will debut on January 31, 2018 in the country
Come January 31, Ford India will unveil its new Compact Utility Vehicle (CUV) for India and the global audience. While, the company has not confirmed what the new CUV would be, we expect it to be the new Figo Cross that was spotted testing in Indian some time back. However, the new Figo Cross is a crossover; and the official invite from the company stresses it to be a Compact Utility Vehicle, we believe it could also be Ford Kuga, which was slated for a debut this year. Rest assured, all our doubts will be cleared by the end of this month.

Not much is known about this new CUV from Ford, but we expect it to get the all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine from the Dragon series, that makes 90 bhp of max power, along with the tried and tested 1.5-litre diesel engine with 100 bhp. The new engine will be paired with either a 5-Speed manual or an all-new 6-Speed automatic gearbox.

Now, if this new CUV is indeed the Figo Cross, our recent reports suggest that the rugged and updated version of Figo hatchback will come with additional body cladding, revised styling and additional features to match up to its contemporaries. The new Mustang-inspired hexagonal grille, sweptback headlamps, black body cladding on the front bumper and the black plastic gives the Figo Cross a sense of Figo on steroids. At the back, the bumper is all new, but maintain Ford's signature look. It gets twin-spoke black alloy wheels, split racing stripes along with roof rails, and LED DRLs.

Moving inside, the Ford Figo Cross gets an all new cabin; along with the massive floating touchscreen infotainment display from the EcoSport facelift. That's not all; the Figo Cross also gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Ford's SYNC3 connectivity system. However, it will give a miss to climate control.
