Chinese electric supercar maker, Human Horizons has launched the HiPhi Z GT which becomes its second EV after the HiPhi X. The Shanghai-based automotive startup has launched a car that has been described as something that “looks, feels and drives like a car from 20 years in the future.”
Interestingly, the HiPhi Z GT features the industry’s first wraparound star-rising ISD light curtain on a passenger vehicle. The curtain consists of 4066 individual LEDs that can interact with the passengers, drivers and the world around the vehicle showcasing messages.
The doors of the car feature an interactive system and ultra-wideband wireless technology something that Apple has leveraged on the iPhone models since 2019. This allows the car to automatically detect people, keys and other vehicles around. So things like automatically opening suicide doors can happen at a safe speed and angle.
The car also features active air grille shutters that connect with the rear spoilers and wings to automatically adjust vehicle drag and provide overall straight-line and aerodynamic performance.
The interior of this car is equally innovative. The mission of the design team was to create somewhat of a futurist spaceship cabin. It also comes with an AI bot called the HiPhi Bot which is a companion to the touch screen. It interfaces with the user using natural language and it also turns its face to the front of the passenger.
“In addition to harnessing a combination of lighting, touch, sound, and fragrance, to create an immersive and comforting environment, HiPhi Bot is able to interact with passengers. It comes equipped with the world’s only vehicle-grade, 4-degrees of freedom (DOF), 8-direction infinitely adjustable, high-speed motion robotic arm which can move back and forth in place in less than a second and features control accuracy of up to 0.001mm, being able to perform a variety of delicate movements with barely a noise,” says the company.
It also comes with a 23-speaker Meridian audio system. The car also features ADAS in the HiPhi Pilot which is powered by the Nvidia Orin X compute platform paired with the QNX Neutrino real-time operating system. There are 34 individual sensors along with a LiDAR which can scale the surroundings of the vehicle and help with assisted parking.
The car will be offered in single motor and dual motor forms providing 296 bhp and 593 bhp. The range of the car will be impressive thanks to its 120 kWh battery that can provide 705 km of range as per the NEDC Chinese metric. This car is going to be expensive costing between $89,000 to $1,29,000.
More details about the car will be revealed at the Chengdu auto show in August and people can test drive the car via the HiPhi app.
