Mercedes GLA-Class SUV Launched; Prices Start at Rs 32.75 Lakh

The much-anticipated compact crossover, the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class is finally here to take on the likes of BMW X1 and Audi Q3. The vehicle has been launched in the price bracket of Rs 32.75 Lakh - Rs 36.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company has also announced to bring in the performance-oriented AMG model of vehicle sometime in October 2014.
The GLA-Class is the third product, after the A-Class and B-Class, in India to have been built upon the Mercedes' MFA (Modular/Mercedes Front Architecture) platform. Though being a crossover, it's bigger, bolder and more masculine than its siblings. The GLA, however, is the smallest among its rivals, measuring 4417mm in length, 1804mm in width, 1494mm in height 2699mm in wheelbase. What goes in its favour, although, is the segment-leading ground clearance of 183mm.

Powering the petrol model of the car will be a 1.8-litre turbocharged, four-cylinder, engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power output of 181bhp and 300Nm of peak torque. The diesel model will feature a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, diesel unit that is good for 135bhp and 300Nm. Both the powertrains will come mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
