Key Highlights
- Honda plans to enter new segments
- Accord and Civic to make a come back
- Will also bring in hybrid technology
2015 saw Honda Cars get back into the groove of making cars in India, for India. The company has already seen a lot of success when it comes to the City and even the Jazz, while the Amaze still manages to bring in the moolah. But 2016 holds a lot of promise as well as the company plans to enter a new segment and revive some old marquees. Here's a list of what to expect.
Honda Accord Hybrid

(Honda Accord Hybrid)
With cars like the Camry gaining a lot of ground, Honda is planning to play its card in the full-size sedan segments with the new Accord. Now, the new Accord will come in the hybrid avtaar and that's a good thing. Toyota has sold over 700 units of the Camry hybrid in India since its launch 8 months ago, and considering how well it has done, Honda would surely want a piece of the pie. It's the ninth generation of the car that will make its way to India and we expect the US-specification Accord to touchdown in India.

The car is powered by a 2-litre, 16-valve i-VTEC petrol engine that's mated to the electric motor which derives power from the on-board lithium-ion battery. The petrol unit churns out 141bhp, but the system's combined output is a 196bhp with a generous 306Nm of torque. The transmission is an electronic CVT, which is designed to handle all that torque.
Expected Price: Rs. 28 - 32 lakh
Expected Launch: September 2016
Honda Brio Facelift

(Honda Brio Facelift)
Having been around for five years, Honda Brio is up for a facelift, the company recently unveiled the tweaked version in Indonesia, at the 2016 Indonesia International Motor Show. Changes made to the hatchback are mostly cosmetic; on the outside the hatchback gets new bumper, reworked grille, redesigned 14 inch alloy rims and new tail lamps. Cabin gets a new dashboard, reminiscent of new Amaze. Power will continue to come from the 1.2 litre, SOHC petrol engine which has been tuned to deliver slightly higher output of 87bhp and 109Nm. The engine will come mated to five-speed manual transmission and there could also be an option for a CVT.

Honda Civic
(New Generation Honda Civic)
Discontinued in 2013 due to lack of demand, Civic is all set to make a comeback soon. Honda had launched the 10th generation model of the premium saloon last year in international markets which is currently available with a choice of two engines-a 2.0 litre naturally aspirated VTEC DOHC four-cylinder petrol unit putting out 158hp and a 1.5 litre turbocharged VTEC petrol engine developing 174hp. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 6-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. As for Indian market, Honda may also roll out an additional diesel variant.
Expected Launch: 2016 end or first half of 2017
Expected Price: Rs 13 lakh onwards
