Highlights

  • Benelli TRK 702 will sit between the TRK 502 and the TRK 800
  • China's Qianjiang Group owns Benelli and the QJMotor brand
  • The TRK 800 was unveiled at the EICMA 2021 show in Milan, Italy

The Benelli TRK 502 has been quite a popular mid-size adventure touring motorcycle in Europe for the Chinese-owned Italian motorcycle brand. In fact, the TRK 502 has been a popular model not just in Italy, but around the world. Now, China's Qianjiang Group owned Benelli is getting ready to extend the TRK range of adventure touring models with a new TRK 702 model, powered by a 693 cc, parallel-twin engine. Images of the upcoming Benelli TRK 702 have emerged, with the brand filing the upcoming model for type approval.

The images reveal one variant sporting alloy wheels with 17-inch alloys at both ends.

The TRK 702 isn't however just a smaller version of the Benelli TRK 800 unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan last year. Unlike the 754 cc twin used in the TRK 800, which is shared with the 752S roadster and the Leoncino 800, the TRK 702 uses a 693 cc twin that is used in the Chinese market sister brand, QJMotor's machines. The design, although similar to the TRK 800, is also all-new and the bike is also built around a new steel trellis frame. The 694 cc, parallel-twin engine is expected to make around 75 bhp.

The images show an almost production-ready motorcycle, right down to the bodywork, colours, graphics and even accessory panniers.

The type approval images reveal at least two versions of the Benelli TRK 702, one with wire spoke wheels, and the other with alloys. The wire spoke wheel version uses a 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel combination, while the alloy wheel version gets a smaller 17-inch front wheel. The images reveal that the bike is close to production, and we expect Benelli to reveal the production model in the coming months. As of now, there's no word on any plans of an India launch.
