Bhilwara Petrol Pump Offers Discounts On Fuel Against Plastic Bottles, Milk Pouches

- Customers can get Rs 1/litre, 50 paise/litre off on petrol and diesel
- Only offered at the Chhaganlal Bagtawarmal petrol pump in Bhilwara
- Customers need to turn over used 1-litre bottles or milk pouches to avail discount
A petrol pump in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara has rolled out a plastic waste management initiative where it is offering discounts on fuel to customers who hand over used single-use plastic bottles and milk pouches. The scheme is valid against 1 litre bottles and either 1 litre or two 500 ml milk pouches which will see the customer get a rebate of 50 paise per litre on diesel or Rs. 1 per litre on petrol.
Ashok Kumar Mundra, the owner of the Chhaganlal Bagtawarmal petrol pump where the initiative was rolled out, said that he wanted to create awareness against the use of single-use plastic as well as try and reduce the waste generated.
Speaking to the PTI, he said that the initiative had the support of the district administration and the local Saras Dairy which would be collecting the disposed-off pouches from the petrol pump.
The campaign was rolled out on July 15 with Mundra saying that the pump had collected about 700 milk pouches – a far cry from their intended target of collecting 10,000 pouches a month.
The campaign is set to currently run for there months, though Mundra said that he is considering extending the programme with the dairy also being in support. As per PTI, Mundra is considering expanding the initiative by asking the dairy to collect the plastic pouches at its outlets across the city and handing over coupons to customers that will get them a discount on fuels at the Chhaganlal Bagtawarmal petrol pump.
