The Tata Tiago is right now one of the more popular entry-level cars in India. First launched in 2016, the car was a game changer for Tata Motors, and it is also one of the top sellers in the company's line-up. The Tiago has been in the market for around 6 years now, and if you are planning to buy a pre-owned version, then you are likely to find a wide range of options. So, before you start looking for one, here are some pros and cons of buying a used Tata Tiago, which you must consider first.
The Tata Tiago has received a 4-star safety rating from the Global NCAP and is very sturdy when it comes to building quality.
Pros
- The Tiago is a very capable and safe car. It has received a 4-star safety rating from the Global NCAP and is very sturdy when it comes to build quality. In fact, it's the safest car in its segment.
- The Tata Tiago comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that put out 84 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque and comes with a manual and AMT gearbox. The older model also came with a diesel engine.
- The Tiago, though small, is very spacious and has good head and shoulder room as well as knee room for rear occupants.
- Depending on the variant you get, the car also gets a touchscreen infotainment system from Harmon with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear parking camera, a multi-function steering wheel and more.
The plastic quality on the Tiago is not that great though improvements have been made only in the 2020 model.
Cons
- Most of the nicer features we mentioned above are exclusive to the more recent, top-spec variants, so, if those are important to you, your options will be limited.
- The plastic quality on the Tiago is not that great though improvements have been made only in the 2020 model. The seats could also have been slightly better in terms of comfort. Even the touchscreen was added later.
- The rear seat does not get a centre armrest, rear AC vents, adjustable headrest, or even a back seat pocket to stow away some documents. The rear middle passenger also only gets a lap belt.
