Having made a splash with the unveiling of the BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs last November, Mahindra is preparing for another big world premiere this November. The carmaker has just confirmed its next electric SUV is a 7-seat model, named XEV 9S, and that it will make its global debut on November 27, at the company's ‘Scream Electric’ event, in Bengaluru. The XEV 9S will be the third product to be based on Mahindra's born-electric INGLO architecture after the hugely popular BE 6 and XEV 9e. However, while it will be revealed this year, expect a market launch for the XEV 9S sometime early in 2026.

The XEV 9S was previewed as the XUV.e8 prototype in 2022.
While it may share its name – and to a certain extent, its silhouette – with two of Mahindra's existing products, the XEV 9S promises to be a completely different take on a family SUV. The name is almost identical to that of the swoopy, 5-seat SUV that debuted last year, but in overall size and shape, the 9S will be bigger than the XEV 9e, and closer to the ever-popular Mahindra XUV700.
That being said, it's important to note the XEV 9S does not share mechanicals with the XUV700, since it is based on the INGLO architecture. The design and styling were previewed by the XUV.e8 concept showcased in 2022, and while we expect to see small styling tweaks being made, the production version should be largely the same as the XUV.e8.

Interior expected to mirror that of the XEV 9e.
Yes, the Mahindra XEV 9S will likely be loaded to the gills, just like its INGLO-based siblings. While Mahindra is playing its cards close to its chest for the time being, the company has confirmed the XEV 9S will have sliding second-row seats, a feature enabled by the flat skateboard construct of the INGLO architecture.
Other features that are likely to be a part of the XEV 9S package are the triple-screen layout seen on the XEV 9e, a Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic glass roof, Autopark, Level 2+ advanced driver assistance systems and more.

XEV 9S could carry over the same battery options as XEV 9e.
Mahindra will almost certainly follow the same strategy for the XEV 9S that it adopted for the BE 6 and XEV 9e, by offering a choice of two battery packs.
It remains to be seen if the same battery sizes – 59 kWh and 79 kWh – are on offer, or if there is a small variation in battery sizes for the larger XEV 9S. Motor outputs, too, may change, considering the XEV 9S will be designed to haul families and their luggage on a regular basis.
If similar battery options are offered, the XEV 9S may have a real-world range of somewhere between 400 to 600 kilometres.
