DeLorean Reveals Alpha5 Plasmatail, Omega 2040 Concept

DeLorean which has emerged from the dead is showing off its Alpha5 car to the crowd at the 2022 Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance. In addition to this car, the electric car maker has shown off concepts at the DeLorean House called the Alpha5 Plasmatail 2024 and Omega 2040 offering futuristic visions for the automobile industry.

The Alpha5 Plasmatail is the shooting brake version of the Alpha5 and yes, this car will actually go into production alongside the coupe in 2024. It has a stretched back and the roof line has a shallower slope that connects with a rather upright rear hatch. It also gets gullwing doors and the rear hatch seems hinged to the roof.

The Omega 2040 is more of a concept in a truer sense. It depicts a new vision for the company and is something it believes could be the design language for the next 15 years.

Its design is also rooted in Baja racing and it is not clear if it can be called an SUV, a pickup truck or a futuristic Baja racer. The car doesn’t even have side windows though gullwing doors remain.

DeLorean also showcased its old concepts at the Monterey Car Week of the Alpha2, Alpha3, and Alpha4 — fictional cars from an alternate reality had the original DeLorean car company not folded.
