- Pikes Peak edition to feature single-sided swingarm, 17-inch front wheel
- Pikes Peak edition will be a sportier version of the Multistrada V4
- The new variant is expected to be introduced as a 2022 model
News of a Pikes Peak edition of the latest Ducati Multistrada V4 have been reported in the past, and now, latest spy shots confirm that a sportier Mutlistrada V4 will indeed be launched, as a 2022 model. An Italian publication has released spy shots of what seems to be this very model in the new Ducati Multistrada family, with a 17-inch front wheel, compared to the 19-inch front wheel of the latest Multistrada V4. In fact, US government documents had recently revealed that a Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak edition is very much in the works, and the spy shot only confirms that development.

The upcoming Multistrada V4 variant is expected to get similar add-ons and features as the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak, compared to the regular Multistrada
Ducati has offered a similar Pikes Peak variant of the previous Multistrada 1200 and the Multistrada 1260, and the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak edition will take a similar edition, making it a sportier variant. Apart from the 17-inch front wheel, the bike also sports Ohlins suspension and forged aluminium wheels from Marchesini. Also seen in the spy shot is a single-sided swingarm, and what is also expected are radially mounted brake calipers, like that from the Ducati Streetfighter V4.

Ducati has a long history at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb event
The Ducati Multistrada has quite a history at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. In 2012, the late Carlin Dunne took top spot in the 1205 Division, aboard a Ducati Multistrada 1200. Six years later, Dunne once again piloted a Multistrada 1260 to win the heavyweight class. However, 2019 resulted in tragedy with Dunne's untimely death at Pikes Peak, which resulted in suspension of the motorcycle classes at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Despite excluding bikes from the event, Ducati will continue with a special production variant named after the famed "Race to the Clouds" event.
