F1: Mazepin Says His Father Could Turn Any F1 Team Into Gold

- Mazepin has said his father will be good at owning an F1 team
- He is open to the idea of competeing against his father's team as well
- Mazepin believes that the Uralkali sponsorship is logical for Haas
Nikita Mazepin has suggested that if his father Dimitry Mazepin bought an F1 team, then it would be successful like any of the businesses he's been part of. Dimitry Mazepin's team Uralkali is the main sponsor for the Haas F1 team for whom his son Nikita drives.
"That would be an interesting option for him. He made gold out of everything he started. But I am very loyal to Haas. So if he were to buy a team it would be exciting to see how they duel, and hopefully, beat him," the young Russian said. He hinted that if he were to buy a team, it wouldn't be the Haas F1 team.
Mazepin was open to the idea of competing against his father's team if that were an eventuality in the future. "I wouldn't rule it out. I'm currently part of a team that is 10th out of 10 places in the Constructors' Championship. But I said I am loyal. I want success with Haas," he said.

He also talked about the notion that he was a pay driver because of his father's company investing in the team. He said that investment made sense because he was the only Russian driver in the sport. "I have my place because I'm a racing driver and the team sees me as an asset. The reason for the sponsorship is the company sees Formula 1 as an opportunity for new business. I'm the only Russian driver and of course, a Russian company will always want to invest in a team that has a fellow countryman," he added.
Mazepin is still studying alongside his F1 duties. He is also scheduled to complete military training in the summer of 2022. From a long-term point of view, it seems like the youngster is destined to join his father's company in an executive role. "Despite the motorsport, my father never let me finish school. I am currently the only driver who is still studying on the side. I finished my bachelor's degree, now I'm going to start my masters. My life will only really start after Formula 1. I am confident that one day you will see me head a great company," he said.
