Gibbs Sports Previews Production-Ready Amphibious Motorcycle

If you thought a high-speed amphibious motorcycle is the stuff of science fiction, James Bond movies and one-off concepts, you should guess again. Gibbs Sports has come up with a production-ready version of a bike which can tear up both highways and waterways.
Created by serial amphibian vehicle designer and manufacturer Alan Gibbs, the Biski is powered by a 55-horsepower twin cylinder petrol engine and is capable of cruising at 60kmph (37mph) on water and 129kmph (80mph) on land.
The transition time for the conversion of the bike - at the push of a button - from land-muncher to water-monster (or vice versa) is less than 5 seconds. Pretty impressive!
The Biski pulls its wheels up and out of the way when it is going from land to water and it's driven and steered by a jet on either side of the wheel.
The bike weighs in at 228kg, has an overall length of 2,350mm and width of 950mm, and has a 150mm ground clearance.
The Biski is as steady as they come and allows riders to climb on and off the bike as it floats.
Kiwi entrepreneur Gibbs has made quite a niche for himself over the years by building amphibians that can reach good speeds both on land and water, and his vehicles have a reputation of being engineered for excitement.
As for the price of the Biski, the Gibbs Sports website has listed it as TBD for now. But you can expect it to burn a reasonably sized hole in your pocket.
