Italian Electric Two-Wheeler Market Grows By 54 Per Cent

- Electric motorcycle sales grow 174 per cent in first six months of 2021
- Electric scooter sales recorded 63.4 per cent growth
- The electric two-wheeler segment has grown 84.5 per cent in 2020
Italy's electric two-wheeler market is witnessing unprecedented growth during the first six months of 2021, according to latest reports. The Confindustria ANCMA (National Association of Cycle and Motorcycle Accessories) has reported a boom in electric two-wheeler sales, and in 2020 alone, the two-wheel electric market reported impressive growth across electric motorcycles, electric scooters and electric mopeds with 84.5 per cent growth. Now, that growth seems to have carried forward to 2021 as well, and despite the pandemic, the segment has achieved 54.7 per cent further growth between January and June 2021.

Italy's electric two-wheeler segment is growing at an unprecedented growth
Electric motorcycles seem to have made showed the best growth numbers, with 332 units sold in the first six months of 2021. Compared to just 171 electric motorcycles sold during the same period last year, it's a growth of a massive 174.3 per cent. Electric scooters followed up with 63.4 per cent growth, while moped sales slid 4.4 per cent in the first six months of 2021. Compared to sales in 2019, the growth numbers are even better. While moped sales recorded 30.9 per cent growth, scooters recorded 317.3 per cent growth, and electric motorcycles recording a whopping 751.2 per cent growth.

According to ANCMA, the sector will have further impetus thanks to the eco bonus of 150 million euros until 2026 for electric motorcycles, scooters, mopeds, tricycles and quadricycles. According to the association, around 11 million euros were consumed in 2021, which brings the budget available for the current year to 17 million euros.
