MG Gloster Facelift Launch on August 31, 2022

MG has teased the launch of the new ‘Advanced Gloster’ in India on August 31, 2022. Launched in India in 2020, the Gloster has been on sale in India for almost two years now with test mules of the updated Gloster having surfaced online throughout 2022. The heavily camouflaged test mules gave away little to the design changes though we could see updates such as tweaked light clusters along with new designs for the alloy wheels.
Moving to the interior, we could also expect cosmetic changes to be made cabin such as revised upholstery options and colours along with tweaks to the equipment list. The Gloster in fully-loaded spec certainly wasn’t lacking in the features department though we could expect MG to up the ante even further.
Test mules of the updated Gloster have been spied testing on Indian roads throughout 2022.
Expect tech such as the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, three-zone climate control with an air purifier, 12-way adjustable driver seat, connected car features and ADAS function and four-wheel drive to be carried forward though MG could upgrade the connected tech and ADAS features to offer greater functionality. The Gloster received Level 1 ADAS features when it arrived in 2020 which could be upgraded to Level 2 similar to the smaller MG Astor.
Coming to the engine, expect the current pair of 2.0-litre turbo and 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel units to be carried forward. The lower spec turbo-diesel mill currently develops 160 bhp & 375 Nm with the twin-turbo unit putting out a stronger 215 bhp & 480 Nm. The transmission would be a single 8-speed automatic unit as on the current model. As before, the 2022 MG Gloster SUV will get RWD and 4WD systems depending on the variant.
The updated Gloster will go up against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner in the full-size SUV space. Expect prices to be at a premium to that of the current model.
