New Variant Of Royal Enfield Himalayan Spotted Again On Test

- The Royal Enfield Himalayan currently is priced at Rs. 2.12 lakh
- New variant could be positioned as more accessible and affordable
- Royal Enfield has been continuously making improvements to the Himalayan
Royal Enfield seems to be getting ready to launch what seems to be a more affordable variant of the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The current Himalayan, no doubt a considerably improved version since the model was launched in 2016, costs more than Rs. 2 lakh (Ex-showroom). The Himalayan was last updated earlier this year, and it does feel like a much improved and refined version compared to earlier models, and the latest price update was introduced for the second time over the past two months, pushing the price to almost Rs. 2.11 lakh (Ex-showroom).

The new variant misses out on the windscreen, and sports a different instrument console, and will also likely get a smaller front wheel.

Royal Enfield seems to be also working on a more affordable, and accessible version of the Himalayan, with a smaller front wheel, and it's been spotted on test yet again, giving a clear view of the new variant. The most apparent, and obvious changes include the smaller 19-inch front wheel, in place of the current 21-inch front wheel. Then there's the lack of a windscreen, and the front sub-frame, which doubled up as extra luggage and fuel carriers on both sides of the fuel tank.

The position of the front indicators have also been changed, and the instrument console seems to be a far simpler version than on the current Himalayan. The console on the test bike seems to be a single-pod cluster, with a smaller screen, which appears to be the Tripper navigation pod. The seat also appears to be a single-piece designed compared to the split seat set-up of the current Himalayan.

The strategy could be also to have the Himalayan appeal to newer riders, as well as women riders, with a slightly less tall stance, and possibly a lower seat height. Mechanically, there aren't expected to be a lot more changes, but more details will be clearer as and when Royal Enfield announces this new variant.
