  • QJMotor SRT 700 could make way for new Benelli ADVs
  • 693 cc engine expected to make around 75 bhp
  • Benelli is owned by China's Qianjiang Group

Chinese motorcycle brand QJMotor, a part of the Qianjiang Group, which is also the parent company of Benelli, has type-approved a range of new adventure bikes. The QJMotor SRT 700 range features a new 693 cc parallel-twin engine with maximum rated power at 75 bhp. At least four variants of the QJMotor SRT700 are planned, with different kit, wheel types (alloy and spoked) as well as standard luggage options. QJMotor bikes currently share Benelli platforms, and the new type-approved SRT 700 adventure bike is certain to get a Benelli counterpart.

The QJMotor SRT 700 will be offered with or without luggage, and in a choice of alloy or wire spoke wheels

Currently, the QJMotor range features 350 cc, 500 cc and 750 cc parallel twins, along with a line of 600 cc inline four models. And all these models are based on existing Benelli platforms. The upcoming QJMotor SRT 700 has been type-approved in China, in four variants, with or without luggage. Visually, the SRT 700 looks quite similar to the Benelli TRK 502-based QJMotor SRT 500, so a Benelli branded TRK model based on the 693 cc engine of the SRT 700 seems imminent.

The QJMotor SRT 700 will be powered by a 693 cc engine with around 75 bhp power

The type approval documents suggest that the SRT 700 is significantly lighter than the QJ Motor SRT 750. Without luggage, the new SRT 700 is 222 kg, whle the SRT 750 is 236 kg. In fact, it's even lighter than the current Benelli TRK 502-based SRT 500, which weighs 225 kg. Now, the big questions is, when we'll get to see a production model, and if a new Benelli based on this platform will be introduced and launched in India.

The 2021 EICMA show may be a good place to keep an eye out for any upcoming models, and considering the interest the TRK 502 is getting, both in Europe and in India, Benelli may be riding high on its adventure range, and a new model based on the SRT 700 will likely be introduced sometime in 2022.
