The Maruti Suzuki Brezza has been on sale in the Indian market for over a decade. However, the brand has never positioned it as an enthusiast-focused or sporty SUV. That changed with the introduction of the new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol 'Boosterjet' engine, which is also offered in the Fronx.

Priced in the Rs 12 lakh bracket, the Brezza now competes with the Skoda Kylaq, Hyundai Venue, and Tata Nexon. While the Nexon is powered by a larger 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, all four SUVs offer closely matched performance on paper. Here's a look at how the Brezza stacks up against its rivals.

Pricing

The Brezza Boosterjet is available only with a manual transmission, so we have compared the top-spec manual variants of all four SUVs Let's begin with the pricing, as this is typically an area where Maruti Suzuki has an advantage. However, in this comparison, the Tata Nexon emerges as the most affordable option. The recently launched Nexon Camo Edition is priced nearly Rs 1 lakh lower than the Brezza Boosterjet.

Engine

Among the four SUVs, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Skoda Kylaq, and Hyundai Venue are powered by 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engines, while the Tata Nexon gets a larger 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit. Despite the additional 200cc, the Nexon remains closely matched with its rivals in terms of performance.

The Skoda Kylaq produces the highest torque in the segment, offering 6 Nm more than the Hyundai Venue. Meanwhile, the Brezza marks Maruti Suzuki's return to turbo-petrol engines, receiving the new Boosterjet engine for the first time.
