Volvo to Open 4 New Showrooms in India

Highlights
Volvo Auto India announced plans of opening four new showrooms this month. The Swedish car manufacturer has said that the new showrooms will come up in West Delhi, Surat, Chandigarh and Kolkata.
Volvo says that these new showrooms will be based on their traditional Scandinavian design that will sell their entire range of cars consisting of the V40 Cross Country, S60, S80, XC60 and the XC90.
The West Delhi and Surat dealership are owned by the company's existing dealers Swede Auto and Autobots respectively. The Chandigarh Dealership will be run by Krishna Group who have been in automobile business since 1967 while the one in Kolkata will be handled by OSL Scandinavian, part of the OSL Group.
Tomas Ernbery, MD, Volvo Auto India, said "Taking our philosophy of 'designed around you' a step further, we are happy to bring the all new Volvo retail experience at four new locations. With the new dealers, Volvo Auto India is confident of expanding its market share and creating more patrons for its brand. We will continue to grow as we start sales with 15 functional dealerships across key cities, generating a strong brand eminence."
Volvo has been a pioneer in technology and the cars they make have tonnes of it. However, they haven't performed well in India and that is mainly because they haven't really gone all out to woo the customers. The S80 and the XC90 are the next in line to receive updates and by expanding their footprint in India, Volvo clearly wants to widen its reach.

Volvo Auto India has finally pulled the plug two of its oldest models in the domestic line-up. The Volvo S60 sedan and the V40 hatchback have been discontinued in India, along with their cross country versions. The cars have also been de-listed from the company's website. The Swedish automaker has confirmed the development. With both the cars already discontinued globally, it was only time that they would go off sale in India too. Volvo imported these cars as Completely Built Units (CBUs), which means they adhere to the global lifecycle. While the cars have been discontinued, certain dealers do have an example or two of the older generation S60 in their inventory.
